University College London Hospitals (UCLH) is seeking to appointment a clinical fellow for the complex mesh service.

As clinical fellow you will be responsibility for supporting the service in all clinical aspects to deliver excellent patient care.

The aims of the post include
- Support the NHSE commissioned complex mesh service to ensure high quality care can be provided to patients who are being referred to the London Complex Mesh Centre from across London and the South East
- Ensure effective and efficient multidisciplinary review and treatment planning for complex mesh patients
- Provide an efficient and responsive surgical service within the London centre for mesh complications
- Participate in research, education and audit within the department
- Provide high quality care for patients as part of the Women’s Health Gynaecology team

We are dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of many complex illnesses. UCLH specialises in women’s health and the treatment of cancer, infection, neurological, gastrointestinal and oral disease. It has world class support services including critical care, imaging, nuclear medicine and pathology.

UCLH is one of a limited number of specialist centres commissioned by NHSE to treat women experiencing pelvic mesh complications. The centre is commissioned to treat patients living in London and the South-East of England. The service brings together surgical components from Urogynaecology and Urology into an MDT which also includes pain management, psychology, physiotherapy, and specialist nursing.

The surgical team are consultants across Urogynaecology and Urology. Additionally, we have dedicated clinical nurse specialists, psychology, pain management and physiotherapy, as well as support from the GI division. The service has a dedicated MDT coordinator and wider administrative support.

The team has strong research links with the Institute for Women’s Health/UCL and we will be building research studies as we develop the service.

The post will comprise of a 40-hours per week including outpatient clinics, weekly surgical operating lists and the post-holder will need to support clinical work such as in-patient ward rounds.

The post will work closely with the consultant surgeons as well as the wider MDT in providing clinical care for patients in the complex mesh service. This includes outpatient clinics, weekly surgical operating lists and will need to carry out supporting clinical work such as in-patient ward rounds. They will also be given the opportunity to learn operating techniques and develop their surgical skills and get involved in clinical research.
