Audits & Governance Participate in clinical audit, incident reporting and to ensure resulting actions are implemented Ensure clinical guidelines and protocols are adhered to Keep fully informed about best practice in the specialty areas Role model of good practice for infection control to all members of the multidisciplinary team Senior Clinical Fellow in Neonatology, Evelina Childrens Hospital Guys & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust Duties and Responsibilities Clinical duties The post holder will, together with colleagues, be responsible for the provision of services to the Guys & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust to include: Diagnosis and treatment of patients of the trust in such hospitals, health centres or clinics or other premises as required. Continuing clinical responsibility for the patients in your charge, allowing for all proper delegation to, and training of, your staff. To provide clinical care for inpatients in Intensive Care, Special Care, Labour Ward and Postnatal Ward.

To work at an appropriate level within a 3 tier junior medical team. To develop knowledge and experience in straightforward and complex neonatal problems, including subspecialty neonatology (particularly in New-born Cardiology and Surgery). To develop counselling skills for antenatal parents, parents of babies on NICU and bereaved parents. To develop skills for discharging planning home and towards other units.

To develop skills in follow-up assessment in outpatient clinic. To develop practical skills including: neonatal resuscitation, difficult airway management, line insertion under ultrasound guidance, lung ultrasound. Training and Education To participate in postgraduate medical education which includes: simulation and clinical skills lab training teaching (intubation, airway management, ultrasound, line placement, and drains insertion), monthly study days, neonatal seminars. To take part in ad-hoc courses on: neonatal cardiology, lung ultrasound, point of care ultrasound, cranial ultrasound.

**To present in weekly programmed postgraduate activities**: neonatal complex case meeting, surgical meeting, perinatal meeting, bitesize teaching, and journal club. To continue professional development in agreement with your educational supervisor by attending relevant training as agreed. Teaching The post holder will be expected to contribute as appropriate in the trainee led teaching opportunities organised in the Unit. The post holder will take responsibility for the training and direction of junior staff allocated to him/her under aegis of the training plan that the post holder has agreed with their supervising consultant.

Fellows will also be encouraged to take part in undergraduate teaching programme for Kings College London medical students. Admin To be responsible for maintaining full data collection using BadgerNet, with accurate documentation and generation of admission and discharge summaries. The unit id paperless, all documentation is recorded in electronic format. Clinical governance & audit All medical and dental staff are expected to take part in clinical governance activity, including clinical audit, clinical guideline and protocol development and clinical risk management.

They are expected to produce evidence of their contribution in these areas and their audit of their own clinical work as part of their appraisal. Fellows will be encouraged to be involved in weekly perinatal mortality and morbidity meetings, monthly deaths and complications meetings and adverse incident meetings. To contribute to updating of clinical protocols as well as to departmental audits and to undertake an agreed audit project. Research To be involved in recruitment and running of current research studies being carried out on the Neonatal Unit.
