Under the supervision and management of a qualified and suitably experienced professional psychologist, the post holder works independently on a day-to-day basis according to a plan and objectives agreed and reviewed at intervals with the qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the Meriden team's research agenda. The Meriden team's main activities are the training of practitioners in Behavioural Family Therapy (BFT) and the implementation of the approach through supervision and consultation.

The post holder support will support the Meriden team in developing their research and audit activities in collaboration with other trusts and agencies. The post holder will also have have the opportunity to develop their research skills through contact with the trust's Research and Development team.

The post holder participates in personal appraisal and continuing professional development activities as agreed with the service line manager, including general training required in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Trust.

The post holder works as part of the Meriden Family Team. The post holder attends team meetings and will gain an understanding of the work of the team.

The post holder participates in governance, audit, research and clinical administrative activities, collecting, collating and analysing data, writing and presenting reports and assisting in project development under the guidance of the psychologist and other team members as required.

In order to support the development of departmental research, day to day skills will include conducting literature searches, an understanding and proficient use of quantitative and qualitative methodologies enabling accurate data analysis, writing reviews and preparing papers and reports.

The team also engage in original research which needs to meet ethical guidelines and governance standards. The post holder will help to ensure that these guidelines are followed.

The post holder Uses IT equipment and software as required, including statistical, database, spreadsheet and presentational.

Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams, service users, carers and of working cross-culturally is desirable.
