We’re the Diocese of Bristol - the Church of England across Bristol, South Gloucester, North Wiltshire and Swindon. That’s the part where some will be inclined to stop reading but if you keep going, you might be surprised by what you find.

The Diocese of Bristol is in the early stages of implementing an exciting new organisational strategy, which reimagines the way we work with communities, forming supportive ecosystems that bring about sustainable social change. Underpinned by the values of openness, generosity, creativity and bravery, we want to transform our communities through positive social change and long-term environmental and financial sustainability.

To achieve this, we are building a dynamic new External Relations Team who will be responsible for delivering an ambitious Fundraising, Communications & Marketing and Strategic Partnerships strategy. That’s where you come in

**The role**

As Press & Comms Officer, you will work closely with the Head of Comms & Marketing and Director of External Relations to deliver communications that reflect our ‘Transforming Church. Together’ strategic goals,and report on the positive impact of the strategy to internal and external audiences.

In brief, it can be summarised as follows:

- Develop and implement effective communications activities for both internal and external audiences.
- Ensure consistency in terms of voice, branding, messaging, and frequency of posting via digital channels, as well as supporting press spokespeople.
- Write and optimise content for the website, digital newsletters, print publications and social networking sites.

**The Organisation**

The Diocese of Bristol is the administrative area of the Church of England that covers Bristol and Swindon. There are more than 200 churches in the Diocese, led by hundreds of clergy, and around 15,000 children and young people attend our 72 church schools. So, in many ways the best description is that it is the Diocese is a family of the 30,000 or so Clergy, Staff, Parish Officers and Church attendees who work together with a common goal.

This is an exciting time within the Diocese as we are collaboratively shaping a new vision and set of priorities for the coming years in a process called _Transforming Church. Together_._ We want to understand what we do well, what we can change for the better and how to create a positive way forward together.

**Desired Skills and Experience**:

- Handling campaigns and writing multi-channel communications
- Producing a range of marketing materials
- Understanding and writing for the needs and requirements of different audiences
- Use of Content Management Systems to edit and publish news stories and/or other content

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £26,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
