Job Opportunity - Communications Associate
Marchmont Communications is a specialist communications agency whose clients engage in many of the world’s most pressing international development debates – from sustainable food systems, global health and natural resource management to climate change, inclusive finance, energy and innovation. We work with leading United Nations agencies, philanthropic foundations, research institutes, NGOs and associations to communicate science, innovation and policy insights for maximum impact.
We are looking to recruit an associate to join our team and support on all aspects of the work we deliver, with a focus on written content and media relations, including:
- Developing and delivering media strategies and outreach plans.
- Producing high-quality written content, including press releases, media summaries, blogs, case studies, interview responses, etc.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with journalists to pitch them stories regularly and handle enquiries and interview requests.
- Working closely with our clients to provide timely, relevant and insight-led advisory.
The associate will also have the opportunity, as needed, to support other work within the agency, including content production, social media management, event support and desk research.
In practice, this means that we are looking for a candidate who is:
- Dedicated – interested in working hard and committed to on-going learning, while able to take the initiative to deliver optimal results for our clients.
- Engaging – able to cultivate networks of media contacts and develop a strong rapport with journalists.
- Savvy – finding story angles and creating content that make our clients’ stories come to life; keeping up to date with current affairs and well-acquainted with the global media landscape.
- Expressive – able to communicate effectively and deliver clean and clear copy for a range of different audiences, even within short deadlines.
- Flexible – able to work within a small virtual team and across client accounts as needed.
In short, we’re looking for someone clued into the media landscape with a strong appetite and skill for storytelling and bringing to life advances in global development.
The details:
- Location: remote, preferably GMT to GMT+3 time zone (We cannot provide work visas.)
- Work experience: 2-5 years in a communications or media relations role, ideally with professional experience of at least one global development issue.
- Education: a university degree or higher, preferably in a relevant field (politics, economics, international relations, communications, PR).
- Salary: commensurate with your ability to deliver and secure first-class results.
