This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team at the heart of Lancashire County Council.

The Business Intelligence team plays a central role in supporting all services across the county council; we provide analyses to develop our understanding of the people who live in Lancashire and insight into Lancashire's economic and cultural landscape; we work closely with all services to develop business critical reports and performance analyses; we also support statutory and regulatory requirements. The team has experts in a broad range of business intelligence techniques, tools and technologies as well as having a deep understanding of the council's functions and services.

Establishment or team: Business Intelligence

The Senior Business Intelligence Officer post is a dynamic position linking and improving the information provided by Business Intelligence with that used and needed by operational teams in varies services. It involves the gathering of reporting requirements, ensuring the council's core systems and related reporting systems can then deliver on these requirements, alongside the need to fulfil its statutory reporting needs.

The role is based within Business Intelligence and requires the ability to combine datasets and design reporting solutions and then query and interrogate data recording/reporting systems, with an in depth understanding of data analysis, along with knowledge of operational practice with national reporting requirements.

You will:
Be responsible for the development and maintenance of the Business Intelligence reporting system infrastructure, including delivering new reports, monitoring report performance and usage, testing system upgrades and ensuring business continuity.

Be responsible for gathering, interpreting, and develop reporting requirements through working in partnership with business leads, ensuring the council's core information systems can meet these requirements and incorporating them within the Business Intelligence (BI) reporting solutions deployed within the council.

Work closely with Children's Services so that children's reporting reflects the organisational priorities and that the data can be used to support future decisions on Children's strategies, policies and practice.

Manage the successful completion of the statutory Childrens services returns, ensuring that core systems comply with statutory and regulatory requirements and that the required data is collected at the right time. This will involve educating end users on the importance of key data fields within core systems, data quality and ensuring they follow outlined procedures and processes.
