**Assistant Archives Officer Job-share (Permanent)**

**(28 hours in 4 days per week)**

Based in the Cataloguing, Taxonomy and Data team, the Assistant Archives Officers help us to maintain The National Archives’ online catalogue. You will be involved in the processing of data for records transferred by government departments and for Freedom of Information releases. This role also contributes to cataloguing and data enhancement projects, including suggestions submitted by the public, and provides administrative support to the team.

A combination of onsite and home working is available and applicants should be able to regularly travel to our Kew site, just 10 minutes’ walk from Kew Gardens station.

**Person specification**:

- Experience of working in the archives, information or heritage sectors (or demonstrable interest).
- Experience of cataloguing or editing online content, or demonstrable ability to summarise information coherently and accurately from a variety of manuscript, printed and digital sources
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to explain cataloguing information and engage with colleagues from other departments.
- Ability to identify inaccuracies and mistakes in catalogue data, with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently, sharing responsibility for meeting deadlines and with a strong focus on delivering results that benefit The National Archives public service
