**Job Purpose**
Reporting to the Director of Programme Delivery, the Head of Project Delivery will be responsible for the project management function, supporting either Transformation or Information Services portfolios, focussing on integrating and managing PM processes and functions to improve the consistency and efficiency of delivery across the University. The Head of Project Delivery will operate at a strategic, tactical, and operational level providing effective leadership for methodology (with a focus on use of Agile), risk, issues, and oversight of quality assurance considerations. The role holder will be integral in shaping future portfolios driven by our planning cycle.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
- Implement the Programme Delivery strategy and lead the design and implementation of a common delivery management methodology (e.g., based upon the University of Glasgow Change Framework which underpins Transformation’s work), standards, and tools to drive and facilitate the successful delivery of outcomes.
- To take a lead role in the strategic management and delivery of the portfolio outputs and products and achievement of portfolio outcome targets, including maintaining performance monitoring systems and recommending remedial action to manage identified risks.
- Lead the execution of a Project Delivery governance, reporting, and review framework to provide a holistic view of all project activity across relevant portfolio.
- Provide assurance framework including planning, risk, benefits, and dependencies reviews.
- Manage interdependencies and coordination across projects to ensure that information relating to project deliverables, risks and issues are effectively communicated between stakeholders and that key performance indicators are monitored and evaluated
- Identify and define the major strategic issues and integrate diverse stakeholder interests with the University’s broader agenda to inform the development and prioritisation of project initiatives and to proactively understand and mitigate risks
- Define business strategies and organisational policies to enable the strategic coordination of multiple major projects and initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness of projects
- Foster collaborative and mutually supportive relationships with project leaders and senior stakeholders, assess cross-functional project team capability, provide coaching, training, and support to enhance Transformation’s project/programme management capability, and improve collaborative development and project results
- Lead the development of the project management competency, with a focus on Agile delivery and methodology.

- Best practice and continuous improvement in project methodologies and their implementation, with a focus on Agile

**Essential**:

A1 Ability to demonstrate the necessary strategic competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary professional knowledge, and leadership experience in a similar or number of different specialist IT roles.
OR Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9,10 or 11 (Ordinary/Honours Degree, Post Graduate Qualification) in management related discipline, or equivalent, including being professionally qualified in relevant discipline/professional institution, with a broad range of professional leadership experience in strategically important specialist areas
A2 Recognised formal project management qualification (Agile/PMP/APMP/PRINCE2/P30) or equivalent
