**About We The Curious**

We The Curious is an educational charity and South West England's leading science centre.

We work with partners, locally and nationally, supporting people to be inquisitive, develop new skills and improve their wellbeing.

We are progressive, inquisitive, collaborative, playful and creative.

**Our mission**

Our aim is to connect and empower people through sharing creative experiences which celebrate unknowns in science.

Our work as a charity is driven by five key pledges:

- Include Everyone
- Open Up Science
- Sustainable Futures
- Build Resilience

You can find out more about these in our Manifesto.

**About the role**

Our Assistant Producer: Communities, is a proactive, practical role which works to share the We The Curious experience with the widest possible audience, both inside and outside our building.

Initially, your time will be focused on building and maintaining diverse community relationships across the city; working with local partners to better understand their needs. In response, you will develop playful and accessible experiences for the public which cultivate curiosity.

Over time, you will help to identify opportunities to progress community relationships and support the development of collaborative projects, which offer deeper and more sustained engagement, creating space for underrepresented voices in STEM to be heard.

**What will you do in this role?**

**Role specific responsibilities**
- Supported by the department lead, you will be the key contact within the Programming team for our Out and About events programme; in doing so, you will help to maintain positive relationships with existing community partners as well as identifying new opportunities for collaboration across the city.
- Supported by the department lead, you will lead on in-person delivery of Out and About; scheduling and facilitating events offsite at a range of partner organisations/community festivals and in house at We The Curious; supported by Programming staff and our front of house teams as required.
- You will work with community partners to understand their needs and develop new high-quality content for the programme in response - creating new workshops, experiences and activities from scratch.
- Over time, your work should support the growth of strategic relationships within the Out and About programme; creating opportunities for sustained engagement with our venue and piloting in-venue programming for these key partners.
- You will work closely with the department lead and our Equity and Participation catalyst to help grow and develop this area of the public programme, ensuring that ‘Out and About’ works cohesively with wider inclusion strategy.
- You will be highly motivated with a collaborative approach to working; confident at delivering events in partnership with a diverse range of collaborators and be an advocate for/or committed to meaningful participation and equitable practices.
- You will provide comprehensive administrative and logístical support to the programme. You should therefore have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise a varied workload, working accurately and calmly under pressure to deadline.

**What will you do in this role?**

**General responsibilities**
- Responsible for carefully following safeguarding policies and procedures and raising any concerns to manager/Designated Safeguarding Officer
- Support and assist the Marketing team on all aspects of communicating the Out and About offer as required.
- Collaborate with the Development team on any funding bids and reports relating to your area of work.
- General responsibility for departmental compliance with GDPR.
- Embody and demonstrate our values; Collaborative, Creative, Inquisitive, Playful, Progressive.
- Due to the responsibilities of this role, you will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.

**What we're looking for from you**

**Essential**
- You will demonstrate a commitment to inclusive practice and community engagement, and be able to show a thorough understanding of the barriers to participation.
- You will have an established track record of delivering community engagement programmes for a diverse range of audiences, particularly those who are less well represented in the Science Centre sector
