JOB DESCRIPTION: Fundraising and Operations Assistant
Together with the youthwork manager maintain day-to-day service delivery.

**Reports to**: Executive Director

**Responsible for**: Volunteers

**Duties and key responsibilities**
- Support on income generation strategy for Ignite
- Lead on developing volunteer engagement initiatives
- Develop relationships with key funders and commissioners to explore possible funding sources

**Fundraising**
- Identify and maximise opportunities to raise funds from trusts, foundations and other funding bodies
- Manage a portfolio of existing and prospective trusts, foundations and other funding bodies
- Research and maintain an on-going, sustainable pipeline of prospects
- Build effective relationships with funders in order to secure long-term funding and support
- Achieve income targets that support the delivery and fundraising goals
- Keep accurate, relevant, timely records on our systems
- Help to create inspiring reports and updates for funders that bring to life the impact of their support and demonstrate first class stewardship. Where appropriate, attend events to meet funders and/or promote Ignite
- Work closely with the youth workers to embed monitoring and evaluation throughout the funding process
- Report on progress, results and income in a timely manner
- Support the Executive Director to analyse fundraising trends and success

**Operations**
- Provide vision, leadership and strategic direction in the absence of the Director
- Work with other staff to ensure that appropriate service processes and systems are in place
- Support the Director with the coordination of the management and delivery of organisational action plans
- Recruit and manage volunteers

**General Responsibilities**
- Be flexible and carry out other associated duties as may arise, develop or be assigned in line with the broad remit of the position
- Maintain and improve competencies through continuous professional development
- Abide by all organisational policies, codes of conduct and practices
- Support and promote inclusion, diversity and equality of opportunity in the workplace
- Treat with confidentiality any personal, private or sensitive information about individual organisations and or clients or staff and project data

**Person Specification -**

**EXPERIENCE**
- At least 12 months' experience of trust fundraising and a demonstrable track record of securing income from trusts, foundations and other funding bodies
- Experience of managing funders' relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisation skills - can manage workload and deadlines and proactively work to achieve timely delivery
- Knowledge of databases/data management, including producing reports
- A strong team player, who can communicate effectively and engage colleagues at all levels and develop strong and productive relationships
- Attention to detail and IT proficiency
- Good understanding of applicable legislation
- A knowledge of the not for profit/charity sector
- Oversight of budgets

**SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
- Exercise judgement and strategic thinking to achieve long-term goals
- Organisational skills, agility and aptitude at meeting changing priorities whilst ensuring long term outcomes achieved
- Manage risk and recognise potential impact of decisions across all sections of the organisation
- Interpersonal and strong spoken and written communication skills which engage audiences, encouraging understanding and participation
- Commitment to upholding young people’s rights when they face disadvantage and discrimination
- Highly developed networking, partnership and people skills that are persuasive and influential of others
- Fluent use of standard office equipment and information & communication technology

**KNOWLEDGE**
- Fundraising knowledge.
- Regulatory, legal requirements and best practice guidance relating to this sphere of work
- Up to date understanding of safeguarding practice, policy and procedures
- Good knowledge and understanding of equalities issues and the issues affecting young people
- Impact of trauma on young people and their support needs
- Voluntary sector working and the role of the statutory sector preferably in the region
- Data protection and confidentiality in relation to client records
- Monitoring and evaluation in commissioned services

**EDUCATION/TRAINING**
- No one specific qualification is required, but evidence of recent continuing professional development in a professional area relevant to the post is required. For example: charity income generation

**PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS**
- Able to travel within and outside of the borough when required.
- Able to work some evenings and weekends where necessary
- Works well in a team with a flexible approach to work

**Salary**: £31,500.00 per year
