**Post**: Payroll Assistant

**Responsible to**: Finance Manager and/or Head of Finance and Business Intelligence

**Responsibilities**:
1. Processing of company payroll every pay period.

2. Maintaining the charity’s manual and computerised payroll processing systems and records by collating, calculating and inputting data within the normal monthly accounting periods.

3. Assist HR team with calculating Flexi & Holiday allowances including pro-rata calculations for part-time staff.

4. Maintaining and adherence to payroll policies and procedures from the organisation staff handbook and ensuring compliance with Employment law and HMRC regulations.

5. Completing statutory payroll returns to HMRC for NI and PAYE obligations, and reconciliations to nominal ledger accounts.

6. Maintaining Master documentation of Employee Salaries, benefits and deductions.

7. Assist HR team in reconciling Holiday and Flexi Leave time to Financial records and Time recording systems.

8. Assist HR team in reporting Sickness, Flexi Time and Holiday balances to Management on a monthly basis.

9. General payroll administrative tasks as required.

10. Other responsibilities as may be agreed from time-to-time.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**

**Essential Criteria**:
1. Experience of working in a small, busy finance team and possessing effective organisational and financial administrative skills.

2. Experience of calculating salaries and relevant payments for staff.

3. Experience of processing salaries in a payroll system.

4. Experience of supporting staff whom are at a senior level in an organisation.

5. IT literate with the ability to use a range of financial management and Microsoft products.

including Word and Excel.

6. Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, including English and Maths.

7. Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing with a diverse range of stakeholders.

8. Able to maintain strict confidentiality.

9. Ability to effectively prioritise own workload and support other team members as necessary.

10. Able to meet deadlines in a pressured environment.

11. Able to work under own initiative and as part of a wider team.

**Desirable Criteria**:
1. A payroll processing qualification or part qualified working towards a payroll processing qualification.

2. Knowledge and skills in database and payroll accounting packages.

3. Understand the payroll support needs of a complex organisation.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Temporary contract, Fixed term contract, Temp to perm
Contract length: 6 months

**Salary**: £24,702.00-£29,268.00 per year

Expected hours: 22 per week
