**Job summary**:
The team are recruiting for a Head of Multilateral Engagement. The post-holder will be responsible for driving forward delivery of engagement in priority multilateral fora (G7 / G20 / OECD / UN) and shaping associated workstreams. This will involve building out our international objectives on data policy, establishing relationships with priority partners and seeking Ministerial and cross-Whitehall buy-in to promote our approach in international fora. There will likely be some required international travel.

**Job description**:
The post-holder will:

- Lead engagement and represent HMG in priority organisations in order to influence global rules and standards.
- Deliver UK’s multilateral data strategy, reflecting broader UK data objectives, as set out in the National Data Strategy.
- Develop multilateral data policy objectives, working with policy teams, analysts, lawyers and industry to shape opportunities to maximise UK leadership.
- Lead cross-Whitehall engagement on international data policy negotiations in international fora.
- Shape Ministerial advice on the UK multilateral data opportunities.
- Influence new HMG policies on emerging data issues and share geopolitical insights and best practice on international data developments.
- Line manage 2 x Band Bs.

- Strong communication skills, and the ability to work with government and industry partners on priority issues.
- Ability to build relationships with senior level stakeholders and work across and beyond departmental boundaries to build support.
- The ability to think strategically and get to grips with complex policy areas quickly.
- Project manage across a broad portfolio and manage competing priorities at pace to to develop evidenced advice.
- A commitment to positive and inclusive leadership.

Desirable Skills:

- Familiarity with international data policy.
- Experience of influencing policy development/delivery internationally.
