**Description**
**Role Overview**
The aim of the Associate Buyer role is to:
- Carry out day to day transactions of all purchasing / supply chain management requirements for the business including quotations needed to support the delivery, installation, and commissioning of HICSE Rail Based Systems to our customers and end users.
- Raising purchase orders for all levels and types of spend and ensuring procurement activities are compliant to established Hitachi processes and procedures.
- Ensure the successful management and ownership of the supplier database and onboarding process.
- Ensure the successful management and ownership of key supplier relationships ensuring that all internal and external supply chain issues are managed in a professional and expedient manner.
**Main Tasks and Responsibilities**
Reporting to the Head of Procurement, responsibilities shall include but not be limited to:
- Overall responsibility for the procurement purchase to pay process and ensuring that all activities are compliant in line with Hitachi requirements.
- Responsible for obtaining quotes from suppliers covering both direct and indirect procurement requirements.
- Responsible for conducting appropriate benchmarking activities.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance to the supplier selection process and onboarding process.
- Responsible for day-to-day communication with suppliers / sub-contractors and resolving any issues that may arise.
- Responsible for managing the stock process, including the tracking of company assets.
- Carry out all duties and responsibilities in adherence to the HICSE Procurement Section of the Business Management System.
- Support the Contracts Manager to review and draft commercial agreements with all suppliers.
- Support the development of sourcing synergies with other Hitachi Group Companies.
- Support the Procurement Officer to enforce corporate governance.
- Assisting the Procurement Officer in managing stock levels for customer of the shelf items and consumables.
- Assisting the Procurement Officer in managing procurement documentation and ensure audit compliance.
- Adherence to the HICSE Business Management System
**Key Skills and Experience**
Essential:
- Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise key tasks when workload is challenging.
- Dependable, highly motivated, and able to work unsupervised to meet critical deadlines.
- Analytical with good numerical skills and the ability to solve problems autonomously.
- Able to work affectively in a small team but also with key stakeholders across the business and supply chain.
- Strong communication skills and ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
- Good level of proficiency with MS Office software e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Educated to degree level and has completed a dissertation project as part of the award.
- Relevant experience in purchasing/supply chain management within a first tier SME or higher would be an advantage.
- Experience of managing a stock control system would be an advantage.
- Some experience of contract formulation and negotiation would be an advantage.
Desirable:
- Membership of CIPS or studying towards the qualification is desirable.
- Can demonstrate ambition to develop a career in supply chain management / Procurement
