**Location**: Midway, Bradford with travel to other offices

**Who are we looking for?**

We are currently recruiting for an **Assistant Buyer **who will support the procurement of a portfolio of goods and services at non-UCR 16 threshold level. Working independently, alongside the Buyers or as part of a project team, our **Assistant Buyer** will support the delivery of robust third party contractual agreements aligned to the delivery of wider business goals. In terms of risk, our **Assistant Buyer** will focus on and be part of the decision-making, along with the Buyers, to contract or purchase order terms.

As our **Assistant Buyer**, you will seek to improve value outcomes for Yorkshire Water through favourable negotiations, either via existing quotes or new business development opportunities.

**What will you be doing in the role?**

As our **Assistant Buyer**, you will be acting as a procurement representative of Yorkshire Water, communicating effectively and professionally across all levels of the business and its associated supply chains. Providing advice, guidance and support to the business to drive compliance and enhance commercial awareness across the Kelda Group, you will also:

- Review purchase requisitions between the value of £10k and £25k and maximise to seek improvement of value through skilful negotiation
- Support the Buyers with the procurement needs that align with current and future business demand, whilst ensuring any solutions provided address wider business requirements
- Establish strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maximise engagement and support
- Support the team with the onboarding process and risk analysis of vendors added to Yorkshire Water’s PSL
- Work and communicate collaboratively with other P2P teams, e.g. Accounts Payable, P2P Systems and Sourcing Admin to ensure processes are as efficient as possible
- Ensure economic, environmental and ethical risks are assessed and appropriately mitigated across the supply chain and throughout the procurement lifecycle
- Contribute to the development of the Contract and Procurement team, to enhance efficiencies, policies, procedures and ways of working
- Manage and maintain all key tender and business unit reporting obligations as required.

**Knowledge and Skills Required**

**Essential**:
As our** Assistant Buyer**, you will demonstrate:

- **Analytical thinking**: The ability to analyse data sets and develop procurement plans that deliver value and mitigate risk
- **Excellent communication**: Utilising a variety of communication styles and tools in order to effect a particular outcome
- **Strong negotiation**: Effectively resolving disputes efficiently throughout the contract lifecycle
- **Commercial acumen**: Commercially focused, with a proven track record of delivering value
- An awareness of the implications of relevant legislation in Procurement; coupled with a sound understanding of the tendering process
- Application of the use of the Microsoft Office suite.

**Desirable**:

- Awareness and understanding of the relevant Kelda Procure to Pay systems (SAP etc.)
- Familiarity with the regulated Utilities Sector.
