**Your new role**
The Head of Credit Control is accountable for leading and developing a high performing AR team in a fast moving shared service environment where passion, creativity and excellence are key. Reporting to the Financial Operations Controller, this role will leadand direct the Credit Control operations team. Develop, mentor and grow the existing team to improve collection rates across the UK. (Teams based in both overseas and the UK) Work in conjunction with UK O2C Finance Transformation Lead to adopt and roll outnew working practices, systems and process improvements relating directly to the collections process. Provide high standards of service according to SLA (Service Level Agreements) and compliance to Group accounting policies.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Set Monthly collection targets for retained team and overseas team
- Run the monthly overdue debtor calls with the Business and collections team
- Manage the internal / external debt collection and any subsequent bad debt write off process
- Conduct monthly performance reviews with the collectors on their respective ledgers
- Introduce standard reporting cycles
- Production of routine and ad hoc customer reporting
- Set, monitor and review credit limits in line with Core Mandatory Controls
- Continual review and improvement of credit control working practices
- Continually challenge Operational billing practices to improve collection rates
- Implementation, tracking and review of controller KPI's to drive improved collection rates
- Introduction of Commission scheme for UK collections team
- Oversee monthly financial closing
- Manage the onshore and offshore team to achieve Working Capital targets
- Manage relationships with all Business customers and key stakeholders
- Recruit, manage and develop staff within the local Credit Control team
This is a full time role working Monday to Friday in a hybrid pattern.
**What you'll need to succeed**
You will have significant previous experience managing a fast paced credit//AR team and have strong people management skills. You will have the drive to lead coach and develop the team and the operational processes. You will have good knowledge and understandingof processes and a high degree of business awareness. Effective organisation and planning skills are essential for the role with high levels of commitment to deliver results
- Extensive knowledge of the AR/OTC process including accounts receivable, billing, credit and collections
- Skilled in using analytical techniques to identify issues and develop solutions
- A strong working knowledge of the key relevant legal, regulatory and statutory requirements
- Preferably experience of working in a Shared Services environment with onshore and offshore operations
- Ability to think strategically
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
- Good change management and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Good team player and hands-on attitude
- Good conflict resolution
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver on multiple deadlines
- Strong IT skills (excel, word, graphs, PowerPoint)
- Cognos and Peoplesoft experience preferred (not essential)
- ICM Credit Management qualification - Desirable not essential
