- Duties & Responsibilities
**Purpose**
The Survey Technical Authority is a global position that reports to the Chief Surveyor. Oceaneering’s core values are at the center of everything we do, and how we conduct business daily. **Functions**
ESSENTIAL
- Ensuring that standard operating procedures related to Oceaneering’s Survey Group (Geo, S&P) are in adherence to industry standards and best survey practices.
- To work with standards organizations such as IOGP and IMCA on behalf of OI Survey.
- Facilitating, together with the Chief Surveyor, an ongoing audit and continual improvement of existing procedures and work instructions.
- Authoring and contributing to the writing of new and existing Standard Operating Procedures
- Maintaining a record of required procedures and work with Chief Surveyor, Project Surveyors, to facilitate the creation of these procedures.
- To participate in OI Survey’s competency program as an assessor for field employees.
- To assist in the planning and executing of projects as an SME where applicable.
- Project governance of all technical aspects, ultimate approval on project specific procedures and inclusion in project job briefing for assessment of assigned project competence.
- To create tools and spreadsheets to facilitate data QC and survey computations.
- Together with Data Management team, assists with project auditing to ensure accuracy in all reporting/findings.
- Communicating Oceaneering Survey’s procedures and practices to clients, when required.
- Ensuring that deviations from procedures due to unforeseen issues are managed in accordance with appropriate survey techniques and Management of Change protocol.
- Evaluating project technical risk, devising mitigation plans, oversight on execution and reporting on lessons learned
- Visible safety leadership.
- Quality management and strict adherence to performance standards.
- Financial oversight and diligence in record keeping.
- Collaboration within the Oceaneering organization and use of shared services.
- Technical sales and client liaison.

- Qualifications
REQUIRED
- Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field or comparable working experience.
- Minimum of Ten (10) years progressively responsible experience in offshore survey operations, offshore survey management, survey project management, technical support, and onshore operations management.
- Working knowledge of ISO certification and standard QA / QC processes.
- Complete knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PeopleSoft. Operational knowledge of current range of offshore survey software packages.
- Must be able to obtain a valid Passport and any other regionally mandated offshore work requirement documents as appropriate.
