GM Recruitment is proud to announce we are recruiting a **Finance Assistant** to join an Architectural Design & Construction Management team in London, Sutton.

As a **Finance Assistant,** you will be responsible for financial processes and procedures, focusing on accounts payable and receivable.

Experience in Xero software, and advanced Excel and Word skills is a MUST.

You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting activities, and ensuring the smooth operation of our finance department.

**Primary Duties**:

- Maintaining accurate financial records and updating financial systems regularly.
- Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Assisting with the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
- Reconciling bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial documents.
- Assisting with month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Monitoring and analysing financial data to identify discrepancies and resolve issues.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns and other statutory filings as required.
- Participation in legal contracts and HR matters, providing financial insights and support.
- Order procurement for the office, ensuring adherence to budgetary guidelines and policies.
- Utilising Dext software for documentation and communication purposes.
- Posting payroll journals and ensuring accurate recording of payroll-related transactions.
- Demonstrating a strong understanding of debits and credits in financial transactions.
- Supporting the Head of Finance, Legal, and HR in financial analysis and forecasting activities.
- Collaborating with other departments to gather financial information and ensure accuracy in reporting.
- Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive financial information with integrity.
- Staying updated on UK accounting regulations, industry best practices, and accounting standards.

**Personal Specification**:

- Minimum 3 years of working experience within accounts, preferably within an SME or Accountancy Practice.
- Experience with management accounts preparations, VAT and payroll processing is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of financial processes, principles, and procedures, focusing on accounts payable and receivable.
- Proficiency in using Xero software is a must.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, with advanced data manipulation, formulae, and formatting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to new systems and software.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in numerical data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proactive attitude, with a willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
