Birmingham Women's Hospital Switchboard Operators required. Part time, permanent position to work within the Switchboard Department.

Main duties of the job
1. To operate the switchboard, receiving, directing and re-directing calls as necessary, using tact and persuasive skills in light of any communication difficulties, giving advice to patients, staff and visitors.
2. To receive all general enquiries at the main reception of the hospital following departmental policies and resolving issues where possible.
3. To receive all visitors to the Trust, provide directions and give advice on patient locations using the Trust’s electronic information system using
knowledge of all the hospital departments.
4. To monitor the condition of the main reception area. To ensure a clean and pleasant environment is maintained and that any housekeeping
problems are resolved and to report any faults to the appropriate department. Maintain the department’s resources (e.g. stock control).
5. To carry out “Test Calls” daily in accordance with the “Crash Call” protocol, concentration is required when checking information relating to crash calls.
6. To attend the switchboard at all times, only leaving the position when a relief operator is present. Using keyboard, and VDU for a substantial
proportion of the day.
