We currently have available an exciting opportunity for a Lead Payroll Practitioner within our Payroll Team.

The successful applicant will be highly motivated, keen to learn, with the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines, together with strong communication skills and a high regard for customer service.

**LIVE **WORK** SUPPORT**

Wiltshire Council HR & Payroll Service delivers a comprehensive payroll service to the internal employees of Wiltshire Council and many schools and academies making more than 40,000 payments per month. The service is currently midstream of a significant project which includes a total delivery review. The project will have a large impact on the authority’s payroll service and will offer service improvements to both its employees and customers.

**About the role**

The Lead Payroll Practitioner plays a key role in the delivery of the payrolls for both our Traded and Non-Traded customers to ensure that an efficient, effective, and comprehensive service is provided.

The Lead Payroll Practitioner is responsible for the management, quality control and smooth operation of the payroll practitioner’s work to ensure that accurate payments are made in a timely and efficient manner, this post will liaise closely with the Payroll Delivery Manager and the Payroll Professional Lead in the planning, organising, and directing of the team and the service.

The role contributes to the provision of a professional service, with high regard to customer’s needs.

**About you**
- Ideally educated to an A Level standard or equivalent or have relevant experience, should also be interested in how systems work efficiently.
- Excellent team working skills, ability to lead and develop partnerships with stakeholders.
- Excellent understanding of payroll principles and practices.
- A proactive approach in anticipating workload and prioritising accordingly to ensure team deadlines are met.
- Experience of using Microsoft office would be an advantage.

- To have strong IT skills
- To have an aptitude for numbers and detail
