An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Payroll Delivery team for a Payroll Specialist.

**LIVE** WORK **LEAD**

The Payroll Delivery Team is responsible for the delivery and maintenance of the payroll software whilst ensuring the service offered to both Wiltshire Council and it’s traded customers is legislatively compliant.

The successful applicant will be highly motivated, with the ability to deliver change, support the team to deliver a top-class payroll service, together with strong communication skills and a high regard for customer service.

Wiltshire Councils Payroll Team delivers a comprehensive payroll service to the internal employees of Wiltshire Council and many schools and academies making more than 40,000 payments per month. The service is currently midstream of a significant project which includes a total delivery review. The project will have a large impact on the authority’s payroll service and will offer service improvements to both its employees and customers.

**About the role**

As a Payroll Specialist, you will be part of a technical team that supports the processing and development of both the Councils and external client’s payrolls. The role will contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures ensuring a cost effective and efficient service is offered. The Payroll Delivery team operates within tight timeframes which contributes to the provision of a quality payroll service, with high regard to customer needs.

Reporting to the Payroll Delivery Manager you will be responsible for the efficient and effective delivery and continual review of the payroll functions and ensuring that the service offer meets customer needs and complies with all statutory and professional obligations and Council policies and procedures.

**About you**
Demonstrate recent and extensive experience of working in a large payroll provider environment with knowledge of payroll and HR operations
- Understand and have experience of the complexities of both HMRC/Pension regulations and legislation
- Ideally educated to an A Level standard or equivalent, or have relevant experience, should also be interested in how systems work efficiently
- Excellent understanding of payroll principles and practices
- Strong communication skills across all levels of the organisation and its stakeholders, including a high level of written, verbal and presentation skills
- Proven ability to improve processes for the benefit of the organisation and customers
- Excellent team working skills
- Good technical knowledge of SAP, or alternative large payroll software provider, as well as a high level of IT skills such as word and excel
