**Job summary**

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced GP Receptionist to join Shakespeare Road Medical Practice, a forward thinking and innovative GP group providing primary care services for 13,500 patients.. This will be primarily within our telephone hub. You will need to be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, be organised and have the ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team, within a fast-paced environment. Flexibility is essential along with an understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.

As a team player, you'll be able to prioritise your work in order to meet deadlines and have a customer focused approach. Previous experience of working within the NHS is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

**Main duties of the job**

The post-holder will deal with patient requests and enquiries face to face and via telephone, booking/amending appointments, prescription and repeat medication queries plus actioning any patient tasks from practice team, working strictly in accordance with the Practice protocols.

**Job responsibilities**

The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the reception team may include any or all of the items in the following list. Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Care Navigator Lead, dependent on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels:
*Unlock and open surgery ready for business on time.

*Switch on and log in to all reception and clinician's computers.

*Retrieve signed prescriptions from locked cupboard and place in correct order in script box.

*Answer the telephone to make, cancel or change patient appointments.

*Deal with a whole range of enquiries raised by patients plus check in for appointments face to face at the front desk.

*Deal with any patient issues in confidentiality room, escalating to Supervisor/ Management for any complaints.

**Qualifications**

**Essential**
- *Good general education -- evidence of literacy and numeracy, e.g. GCSE's in Maths/English.
- *Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- *Customer services experience
