Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced GP Receptionist/Administrator to join Shakespeare Road Medical Practice, a forward thinking and innovative GP group providing primary care services for 13,500 patients. You will need to be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, be organised and have the ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team, within a fast-paced environment. Flexibility is essential along with an understanding, acceptance, and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.

As a team player, you'll be able to prioritise your work in order to meet deadlines and have a customer focused approach. Previous experience of working within the NHS is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be part of a motivated team, working to support a range of healthcare professionals, making sure we always deliver the best possible care and experience for our patients.

They will deal with patient requests and enquiries face to face, online consultations via the telephone and by email predominately booking/amending appointments, prescription and repeat medication queries plus actioning any patient tasks from the wider practice team.

In addition, they will be required to provide coding administration and admin assistance to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the practice, working strictly in accordance with the Practice protocols.

The final combination of Southern Health and Solent Trusts is anticipated to occur in July 2024, when the new organisation will be formed.

Our new Trust will continue to cater to the unique needs of different communities, making healthcare across the county more accessible, as well as offering staff more opportunities for career development, training and partnership working.
