Radiology Clerical Officer

**Duties of the role include (but not limited to**: ) Communications and Relationships Deal with anxious patients with tact, persuasion, patience and discretion Demonstrate a sensitive and professional approach to patientsRecognise where communication difficulties arise and overcome barriers to understanding Work alongside other Radiology staff Keep the senior staff informed of workload and seeks advice where necessary Handle routine and non-routine enquiries by letter/email and telephone Other key working relationships include: Medical and nursing staff internal and externalConsultants and CliniciansExternal agencies e.g. GPs, other Trusts, Private Hospitals Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience NVQ Business and Administration Level 2 Good standard of general education (GCSE or equivalent, including Maths and English) Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel or a similar package Previous administrative experience in a healthcare admin setting Good communication skills both written and verbal Good telephone manner Good organisational skills Ability to work effectively without direct supervision and also within a team Indicate a willingness and ability to support other team members and the ability to adapt to developing service needs Calm disposition Analytical and Judgemental Skills Ability to make unsupervised judgements on patient enquiries and problems Ability to prioritise workload Awareness of when to request advice from senior staff Planning and Organisational Skills Support the Admin Manager to ensure the department develops in line with national guidelines and the organisations needs To possess a flexible and independent approach to work Ability to work to deadlines Ability to work accurately on own initiative Evidence of time management Patient/Client care To provide the highest level of care to patients/clients at all times in an accurate, efficient and professional manner Responds to anxious patients and their relatives with tact, reassurance, discretion and patience where barriers to understanding arise To assist in the delivery of Safecare ensuring that the care delivered is effective, efficient, timely and convenient To support initiatives and develop a culture which improves health, safety and security for patients, staff and visitors Policy and Service Development: Works within agreed protocols maintaining patient confidentiality at all times Carries out duties in accordance with the Data Protection Act Participates in service reviews and actively put forward suggestions for improvement for own work area Assist with the investigation of any complaints, adhering to strict deadlines as per Trust policy Maintains a safe and clean environment in accordance with the Trusts Health & Safety policy Information Resources Update records accordingly ensuring they are kept safely, properly updated and the confidentiality of the information contained within is maintained Inputs data using the relevant software systems, such as Carestream RIS, PACS, PAS Issues letters ensuring patients have the relevant information for their appointment Audit data to ensure the quality and other factors meet with agreed protocols
