Brighton, United Kingdom 279 University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust Full time

An opportunity has arisen to come and work with our forward-thinking Community Midwives at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust Brighton and Hayward’s Heath locations.

As a qualified midwife the post holder will be required to provide the necessary supervision, care and advice to women during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period, to conduct deliveries under their own responsibility and care of the new born.

Work autonomously in accordance with the Nursing & Midwifery Council’s “Midwives Rules” and Trust Guidelines.

If you would like to contribute to our community maternity services and in ‘making a difference’, we would be very pleased to hear from you.

You will be expected to be responsible for your own caseload and clinics in the community on a day-to-day basis.

You will be expected to work weekdays and weekends and cover a spectrum of visits, clinics and long day and night shifts covering the homebirth service. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide women and birth people with timely care either in the home or when required inpatient setting.

We are a friendly cohesive team that puts women and birthing people at the centre of our care and embraces working in positive partnerships. We deliver over 6,000 babies per year across the two sites and have an exceptional home birth service with dedicated teams driving forward birthplace choice.

You will need to hold a valid driving license and will need to be able to meet the travel requirements of the post.

You will have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of training with regards to various studies, trials and proposed changes to procedures and protocols.

Opportunities are available to undertake postgraduate courses and in-house training with the Trust.

However, all applicants must be aware that this is a 24 hour 7 day a week service and in order to meet service requirements you will be called upon to work long days, nights and weekend shifts
