Cambridge, United Kingdom University of Cambridge Full time

About us - As part of our new strategy the Institute of Continuing Education is enhancing its student support services by building an experienced team to provide advice and support to our part-time students and apprentices and all staff who support them. The team is small, but is supportive and dynamic with ambitious plans to develop its services for all our learners whether they are studying with us for a weekend, on a year-long undergraduate certificate, on a two-year master's degree or are an apprentice on our postgraduate programmes. The team is responsible for welfare support, disability support, study skills support and financial support.

Our learners - Continuing education is currently one of the most exciting, prominent and fastest changing fields in global higher education. The University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) is an established leader in the field, tracing its roots back to 1873.

ICE currently enrols around 5000 students each year on short courses and undergraduate and postgraduate award-bearing courses, including apprentices.

The Role - This role will be the sole Disability Advisor at ICE, therefore will be providing support to all disabled students, including students with physical disabilities, sensory impairment, neurodiversity, mental health conditions, and long-term medical conditions. Whilst the role-holder will be expected to support all students, we are looking for someone who can bring experience of working with neurodiverse students.

This is a role that will have a significant positive impact on the experience of disabled students and the post holder will provide advice and support for all our disabled students, and advocate for them within ICE. The post holder will identify reasonable adjustments to ensure that disabled students are able to access all aspects of their studies and academic life. They will work with academic colleagues and senior managers to ensure that our teaching and assessment methods become increasingly inclusive and accessible.

This is an exciting opportunity as the role holder will have an opportunity to help shape the student support services with other members of the welfare team.

About you - You will be an experienced disability practitioner, ideally in an education setting and with experience of supporting neurodiverse students (neurodiversity includes dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism Spectrum Conditions).

You have a commitment to enabling disabled people to realise their potential and you are a highly motivated professional with excellent interpersonal, administrative and IT skills.

You are able to build and maintain excellent working relationships with a diverse range of people at all levels, both internally and externally and you want to be part of a small, dynamic team focused on delivering excellent support services to our community of learners and academics.
