We are seeking a creative, inspiring and motivated Associate Director of Communications, Engagement and Charity, to provide professional advice, expertise and leadership across all aspects of communication, engagement and issues management.

You will be responsible for the strategic planning, development and delivery of communications, engagement and fundraising activity, providing innovative and creative solutions to support the Trust’s ambitious aspirations for mental health, community care and research.

Experienced at working in a fast-paced environment with ever changing and increasing demands, you will need to be flexible, highly organised and able to demonstrate robust decision making.

Job Pack - Associate Director ofCommunications

Interviews will provisionally be held on Friday 5th May 2023

Working as a member of the Trust’s leadership team, you will provide expert advice, counsel and guidance to the executive team, Trust Board, senior leaders and other colleagues on all communication and engagement matters, including sensitive and often contentious issues. Confident in working at pace on high-profile multi-partner projects you will be skilled at relationship building and diplomacy, acting as a key advisor internally and externally across organisational boundaries.

Working with our partners you will provide strategic leadership for communications, engagement and coproduction for the Business Case and development of the Cambridge Children’s Hospital. You will be responsible for the design and delivery of highly effective strategies to garner support for the new hospital’s ambition and ensure true co-production is at the heart of the project’s decision making.

Experienced in brand strategy development, campaigning, and engagement you be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Head to Toe Charity team; setting and leading the strategic direction to maximise fundraising and spend of donations.

Job pack - Associate Director of Communications
- To be responsible for the management of the Communications and Engagement Team, ensuring effective strategic planning, development and delivery of communications, engagement and fundraising activity across all the communities in which it operates, on behalf of the Board of Directors.
- To be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Head to Toe Charity team; setting and leading the strategic direction to maximise fund-raising and spend of donations.
- Key responsibilities include setting and leading the strategic direction for communications, engagement, external affairs, public relations, brand strategy, issues and crisis handling, stakeholder management, events, involvement, campaigns and fundraising.
- Responsible for briefing and advising the Board, and ensuring robust systems and processes are in place to fully engage and involve all stakeholders with the Trust’s strategic direction, working collaboratively with partners from a wide range of sectors.
- Accountable to the Deputy Chief Executive, participate as a member of the Trust Leadership Team, contributing to the formulation of strategy, policy and the delivery of corporate and statutory objectives.
- Provide strategic leadership for the ambitious communications, engagement and co-production programme for the Cambridge Children’s Hospital project. Working with partners across organisational boundaries, responsible for the design and delivery of highly effective strategies to garner support for the new hospital’s ambition and ensure true co-production of the hospital and clinical model.
- Role models the Trust’s values and standards and ensure that its obligations to internal and external stakeholders are understood and met.
- Adhere to the NHS Code of Conduct for Managers, alongside own professional code of conduct, where appropriate.
