**What we do**:
Discovery Sciences applies deep technical expertise in specialist technologies to support the delivery of targets and molecules to the early AstraZeneca pipeline. Targets are identified though our human genomics and functional genomics efforts, employing the latest technologies in genome editing and advanced cell model development. Once identified and validated, we work with therapy area project teams to identify novel small molecules, oligonucleotides and in-vivo expressed biological effectors of these targets using our integrated sample management and platform screening groups.

We shape the next generation of methods in drug discovery.

**What we are looking for**:
We are looking for a dedicated science communicator who will be responsible for developing, managing and delivering integrated communications plans that positively impact our culture, employee engagement and performance. You will join the Discovery Sciences Communication team and will report to the Director, Science Communication and Engagement.

We want a positive ‘people person,’ passionate about both science and communication, highly organised, adaptable, and dedicated to supporting our fantastic scientists.

You will be predominantly office based at one of our current Cambridge sites in the UK (and eventually move to the Discovery Centre, DISC, on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus) or at our Gothenburg site in Sweden.

**What you’ll do**:

- Drive and develop internal science and technologies stories
- Assist in developing high quality and engaging communications to drive awareness of key priorities and achievements (including videos and other digital communications)
- Working with the leadership team for development of strategic communications
- Be an accessible expert and a trusted communication advisor for our scientists
- Coordinate the submission of reports for business cycle, including monthly reports and preparing other internal material
- Leading and delivering key internal activities within the department including events
- Monitors our scientific publications, conferences etc providing a consolidated source of intelligence for communication planning and campaigns
- Drive initiatives to increase leader engagement and to encourage a speak-up culture across the department, using F2F and virtual platforms
- Champion and promote best practise for key communications channels including internal and external social media and other platforms

**Essential Requirements**:

- Experience in a science communications role with track record of developing and leading communications & engagement programs. Pharma experience is beneficial but not essential.
- Experience in creating impactful scientific communications for a range of differentce audiences
- Experience of delivering daily activities whilst developing the longer-term strategic communication plan
- Strong ability to engage, influence and collaborate at all levels of seniority with a delivery focus and problem-solving attitude
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
- Knowledge of large, matrixed organisations
- Degree along with a communication qualification or equivalent experience
