Based at our site in Gorton, Manchester, we manufacture frozen products for Iceland stores. This is a great opportunity for a Quality Assurance (QA) Technologist to join our Technical team at an exciting time of growth within Iceland’s food manufacturing site.

**Role Details**

Role: QA Technologist

**Salary**: Up to £27,000 (dependent on experience) per annum

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (rotating 6am-2pm/2pm-10pm Or permanent 2pm-10pm)

Contract: Permanent

To adhere to quality plans and procedures, examine products and materials, and verify that Company and customer compliance standards are being met.

To assist in the co-ordination, management and updating of all aspects of the site Quality Management System.

To provide support to the wider Technical team to achieve departmental and site Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvements.

To be responsible and be accountable for all tasks undertaken whilst focusing on adding value to the business.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Deliver, operate and maintain all activities required to ensure food safety, quality, legality and integrity throughout all site production, storage and packaging operations.
- Validate and verify key food safety, quality and legality processes and shelf life of products through testing and audit techniques including;
- Conducting audits of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), paperwork completion, chiller temperatures and stock rotations, internal systems, hygiene, personal hygiene, Critical Control Points (CCPs) and fabrication on an hourly/daily/weekly/monthly basis as per schedule.
- Conducting environmental swabbing - using ATP machine and traditional swabs as required
- With Production ensure all production lines are compliant and working to the food safety requirements.
- Support all colleagues and departments on food safety and quality issues.
- Carry out thorough investigations in the event of a food safety risk.
- Perform regular inspection of components online ensuring all are within specification and be actively involved in reviewing stock approaching end of life and updating shelf life extension log.
- Raise, report and investigate internal and external non-conformance reports.
- Coach, develop and mentor colleagues across IML in best practice for food safety, quality, legality and integrity.

**Skills & Experience**

Essential:

- Excellent communication, both verbal and written
- Good organisational skills whilst demonstrating initiative
- Detailed focus with a high level of accuracy
- IT proficient - Outlook, Word and Excel
- Analytical and methodical in solving problems

Desirable:

- Food handling and manufacturing experience (Desirable)
- Experience within a similar quality assurance role (Desirable)
- Food Safety level 3 (Desirable)
- HACCP - level 2 (Desirable)
