**About the role**:
This is a newly created role that offers a **brilliant opportunity** for you to establish a career with Thames Water in frontline operations on a prestigious project.
As a Controllerworking in the **London Tideway Tunnel** Control Room, controlling tunnel operations, when we bring this high-profile project into service.
This ground-breaking engineering project has taken many years of construction with a cost of over £4 billion to complete.
This unique role also includes the responsibility for overseeing the operation of the London Tideway Tunnels as well as Tideway pumping station, Abbey Mills pumping station and Greenwich pumping station which are three of our largest network assets.
**What you will be doing?**:

- Protecting the River Thames from combined sewer overflows
- Responsible for the overall operation of the London Tideway Tunnels (LTT), Greenwich Sewage Pumping Station (SPS) Abbey Mills SPS, and the Tideway PS (including the flow and storm transfer systems).
- Monitoring weather patterns and assessing weather forecasts to activate the different modes of operation.
- Using SCADA, monitor the performance of all critical SPS and the London Tideway Tunnels
- Proactively identify and report the non-availability of key assets to ensure we are well prepared ahead of adverse weather.
- Responding to specific reactive situations to mitigate risk, catchment flooding, or impact on the environment.
- Complete reports and contribute to the effectiveness of LTT Quality Management Systems (QMS) by complying with the Quality Policy and Quality Objectives.
- Maintain electronic shift logs, compile end of shift handover documents and allow time for start and end of shift handovers.
- Work in a team of six on a 12-hour rotating shift pattern

**We are looking for you to have**:

- Experience in a using process control is essential
- We are seeking people with a real desire to work for Thames Water on the London Tideway Tunnels
- **Excellent Communications Skills,** both written and verbal
- Proactive, organised, and methodical approach
- Ideally a basic understanding of hydraulic systems
- Fault finding and problem-solving skills
- **Ability to accurately** analyse data and present conclusions
- Ability to work and make key decisions under demanding situations.
- Driving license to facilitate working from Disaster Recovery sites if required
- Experience working in the **utilities or manufacturing industry, or have a military background** or similar experience controlling an operational process
- Experience managing a process in operating SCADA and GIS basic knowledge of Wastewater Network Operations, including Combined Sewer Overflows, Storm Relief Sewers, and Pumping Stations
