University College London (UCL) is the largest of the colleges in the federation that makes up the University of London. It is consistently rated as one of the top multi-faculty universities in the UK and has an annual turnover in excess of £400m. UCL is one of the UK’s premier research institutions encompassing immense research strength across all areas. It is also developing numerous interdisciplinary research centres. UCL has an excellent library and the library resources available in London, such as the British Library, are unrivalled in the UK.

The Department of Economics has an outstanding international reputation in key areas of current research including applied theory, econometrics, game theory, labour economics, development economics, and macroeconomics. The Department of Economics has placed #1 for research environment and outputs in the 2021 REF results and ranked #3 overall.

The Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration (CReAM) is an independent and interdisciplinary research centre located in the Department of Economics at University College London. CReAM aims at informing the public debate on labour economics and migration in the UK and in Europe by providing new insight, helping to steer the current policy debate in a direction that is based on carefully researched evidence without partisan bias. CReAM contributes to the development of new theories and methodological advances in data analysis, ensuring the ability to contribute and inform on a wide range of issues of policy concern, and establishing a reputation for analysis that is accepted as open, transparent and reliable. Research conducted within the Centre is both theoretical and empirical. CReAM’s research is distributed to international lists focused on Labour Economics. CReAM contributes significantly to the public and policy debate on migration and labour economics in the UK and beyond.
