**Specific responsibilities include**: Co-ordinate the day-to-day running of the general surgical specialties inpatient lists, ensuring that patients are treated upon clinical principles and in line with Trust and Government guidance and targets. To be responsible for the management of the inpatient waiting lists ensuring waiting times and targets are met. To monitor the specialities Primary Targeted List to ensure that no breaches of the waiting target occur. Waiting list management will be carried out in accordance with the Trust waiting list policy.

To compile theatre lists, selecting patients for admission based upon the principle that urgent patients are treated first followed by routine patients in turn. To be actively involved in the training of new staff until they are At all times ensuring that the department offers the best service possible to patients. To ensure appropriate consultant/ clinician cover for theatre lists, cancelling and reducing list in liaison with the Operational support Manager or Operational Manager and arranging for patients to be rebooked as appropriate. To report daily cancelled operations to corporate information.
