Dunfermline, United Kingdom Scottish Water Full time

Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.

Network Maintenance Operator - Sewerage

How’s this for job satisfaction: at Scottish Water we look after Scotland's most precious natural resource.

From source to sea, we look after Scotland’s sewer network and care for our environment at the same time.

Sound good? Join the Tayside East Team within Customer Service Delivery based in the Fife area as a Network Maintenance Operative within wastewater.

What you’ll do

You will join a motivated team who are committed to making a real difference to the experience our customers have with us. This is not just a task driven role - you will be empowered to take ownership of problems, investigate them fully, initiate solutions and provide support to our customers.

You will be responsible for carrying out maintenance and choke clearing on waste water pumping stations and a variety of other tasks, dealing with customer facing related issues on a day to day basis. The focus of the role will be to ensure compliance is maintained on our assets; the resolution of customer issues and the recovery of any reputational impact our operations have on customers. Preference will be given to persons with previous experience of work of a similar nature, Driving Licence would be essential.

Key Accountabilities/Tasks:
- To contribute to the maintenance of Wastewater pumping stations and asset maintenance including clearing choked pumps.- To carry out routine maintenance on the Sewer Network infrastructure- Reactive work and analysis on Pumping stations and immediate network to ensure compliance is met.- Dealing with customers on a day-to-day basis ensuring they are well informed of work being carried out and that there is mínimal disruption to the service- Completing all necessary reporting systems for measuring performance and productivity- Comply with all Scottish Water safe systems of work, chapter 8 NSRWA and all other relevant Health and Safety policy and practice.- Carry out small plant, equipment and vehicle safety checks.

What you’ll bring

You’ll spend a fair amount of time working alone, so you’ll need to be self-motivated, but still eager to contribute to your team’s goals. Basic IT skills are a must, as you’ll be using digital equipment and apps throughout the day. You’ll need report writing skills too - nothing fancy, but enough to get your point across clearly, quickly, and accurately.

A few ‘nice to haves’: it would be ideal if you have experience with HGVs, High Pressure Water Jetting and experience using CCTV equipment for use on sewer network. As would an understanding of health and safety principles for site working or skills in basic ground. Knowledge of sewer networks.

You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community.

When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.

For your future, there’s our pension (the ‘know-what-you’ll-get-when-you-retire’ kind), as well as life assurance.
