**Job summary**:
An exciting opportunity for Cancer Information and Support Workers to work within a rapidly expanding team. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who has the drive for delivering cancer information and support to all patients and carers at UHB. The role will work primarily with the Cancer Information and Support Services Officer and Manager to provide patients and carers with access to high quality information and support in all forms of media but mainly written or verbal at present.

Macmillan funding has been secured for this post for 3 years to deliver this programme; it is intended that a further business case will be submitted to substantiate this post dependant on the evaluation and outcome of the programme. In the event that further funding beyond 3 years is not secured, the post-holder would be supported to find an alternative role within the Trust.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
The individual should be able to work as part of a team yet able to work autonomously to ensure an equitable high quality service is delivered across all sites. The role will work in collaboration with site specific cancer teams and will signpost patients to external agencies in order to meet patient's information needs. This service will work across the sites of Solihull, QE Hospital, Heartlands Hospital and Good Hope Hospital as required.

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who are able to communicate in a variety of circumstances; you will develop a wide understanding of cancer types, treatments and common side effects. As well as the impact that cancer treatment has on patients and their families. Experience in using IT systems such as Microsoft packages and databases is required. You will manage and prioritise your workload, work on initiative and signpost and escalate concerns where appropriate.
