Are you looking for a challenge? We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative Band 4 specialist therapy support workers to work with the Stroke team on Ward 8 at Heartlands hospital
The post holder will work alongside an established therapy team within the in-patient setting and will be expected to undertake a variety of duties with guidance from a registered Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist and be responsible for an agreed specific caseload.
The post holder will be required to undertake training to develop competence to complete a variety of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy assessments and treatments. The post holder will be key in supporting the rehabilitation and discharge process of the agreed specific caseload.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate an ability to work with patients with a wide range of conditions and have experience in the therapy treatment of Stroke and neurologically impaired patients. Good clinical and interpersonal skills along with being able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team are essential elements of the role. **Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
The role of a Therapy Support Worker is to support the delivery of therapy
services to patients within the medical setting. The Therapy Support Worker will work under the supervision of Registered Therapists and will be responsible for an agreed specific caseload. The role will support a range of therapy professions, covering predominately
Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists who work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support the Stroke service on Heartlands Hospital site.
The Therapy Support Worker will be required to work on the wards and may be required to conduct visits to patients' homes.
The trust is committed to providing a 7 day service and therefore the role is on a 7 day working rota as well as contributing to providing evening therapy cover for stroke and neuro in patients.

**Qualifications**:
**Essential**:
Education to GCSE level or equivalent including English and maths at grade C or above
Able to demonstrate competence in maths and written and spoken English
Educated to A Level / NVQ 3/ BTEC or equivalent (e.g. NVQ 2 or similar vocational qualification PLUS experience working in a care setting)
Care certificate or be willing to work towards this
**Experience**:
**Essential**:
Comprehensive experience supporting therapists in a relevant clinical setting
Comprehensive experience of delivering acute inpatient rehabilitation programmes across a variety of clinical settings with evidence of MDT collaboration and hospital discharge planning
Can demonstrate an in depth understanding of relevant areas of therapy, the effect of illness/clinical conditions / disability on function and health and basic aims of rehabilitation
Comprehensive understanding of the role of therapy support worker in Stroke and Neuro
Understanding of confidentiality and data protection in healthcare
One year clinical experience of working with Stroke and Neuro patients in an appropriate setting
