Payroll and Pensions Officer

**The Role**:
This amazing opportunity falls within the Payroll & Pensions team who are responsible for the payment of salaries to all police officers and staff, the OPCC and police pensioners. You will be working on the implementation of exciting projects including pensionremedy as well as the role, reward and pay project for police staff which will include the implementation of a new pay and grading structure involving the movement of all staff onto this new structure.
This role would be perfect for a recently qualified graduate looking to gain knowledge and experience of working in a large organisation or someone with previous experience of working in a payroll or pensions section.
**What will I be doing?**
- Working as part of a busy team you will be required to work methodically to process all authorised payroll and pensions related data.
- Collation of key data and calculation of comparison of benefits for pension remedy.
- Configuration of the core payroll system to ensure alignment to the new pay and grading structure.
- Creation of any new roles formed as part of the project in the payroll system.
- The transfer of all police staff onto the new pay & grading structure, ensuring all conditions of contract are maintained on the new record.
- Calculation and implementation of any salary protections arising as result of the project.
**What do I need?**
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and high personal and professional standards.
- Experience of operating to strict deadlines.
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office, in particular, Excel.
Desirable but not necessary:
- An understanding and knowledge of HMRC legislation affecting pay and pensions.

Applicants must be a resident of the UK for a minimum period of 3 years to ensure vetting checks can be successfully performed. A job offer will be dependent upon vetting clearance, medical information and references.
