Job Summary:
- Provide person centered care and support for children with learning disabilities who may also have physical and sensory disabilities, and challenging behaviours.
- Provide individualised support and care to children with specific health care needs.
- Assist the Manager to carry out duties to ensure the smooth running of the care home within the legal requirements of OFSTED and key working with service users and attend service users care planning reviews.
- Monitor and ensure that the home operates within all legal and statutory frameworks,
including the Children’s Homes Regulations (England), Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, etc.
- Liaise with other health or social care professionals involved in service users care.
- To be actively involved the recruitment, induction, mentoring, supervision, appraisal and line management of care and other staff, and identifying training needs of individuals and the home.
- Participate in their own supervision, attending identified training courses relevant to their role.
- Understand and monitor the relevant financial processes within the home
- To attend and lead meetings as appropriate, both internal and with external colleagues and partners.
- Contribute to the assessment of referrals and transition processes, both to and from the home and other settings such as education.
- Contribute to regular reviews of the service in conjunction with the RM and RI, including the Regulation 44 and 45 processes.
- To support service users in their leisure and social activities.
- Ensure all required records are fully completed.
- Ensure care plans are reviewed monthly.
- To complete Home Audits.
- Be responsible for producing staff rotas.
- To hold on-call responsibilities when required.
- Promote and adhere to the home’s equal opportunity principles, policy and practice.
- To carry out any other duties requested by manager/senior manager
Essential Experience:
- Previous supervisory experience is essential; able to supervise care staff and service users support provision in the absence of the Home ’s Manager/Deputy
- Preferred 2 years previous experience of working with children who have Learning Disabilities and who may also have physical and sensory disabilities for at least 2 years in a residential setting.
- Previous experience of working with children who may have challenging behaviour in an residential settings.
- Full clean UK driving licence is essential
Essential Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 in Social Care
