**Assistant Planning Enforcement Officer**
- Do you have:_
- _experience of working in a local government enforcement officer role (planning or other related service) and_
- _a demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively manage a varied caseload of enforcement complaints, or_
- _the key skills, academic achievements and ambition to be capable of doing so?_

We are looking for someone who is organised, pays attention to detail as a committed team player, who also has a passion for the built and natural environment to join our team.

To successfully fulfil the duties of this role you will need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to negotiate in challenging situations, being clearly focussed on delivering high quality customer service whilst maintaining professional standards and the Council’s reputation.

You will be working directly with our Planning Enforcement Officer and within our team of Planning Officers, who will support and mentor you in your professional development.

The key requirements for this role are:
Some experience in a planning or enforcement related occupation is desirable.

You will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of complaints, through every stage of the planning enforcement process - from reviewing plans and legal documents, understanding a site’s planning history, relevant regulations and planning law, communicating effectively, inspecting sites, keeping accurate records, making appropriate recommendations for action in written reports and, where appropriate, drafting and serving notices.

You will need to demonstrate that you have the necessary skills and experience to be able to effectively manage your time and caseload, including prioritising and negotiating, to ensure that we deliver high quality outcomes. You should be able to demonstrate an understanding the purpose and importance of planning enforcement, its legislative and policy context along how this relates to the Development Management service and the Council’s wider functions. An appreciation of heritage protection in an urban context will also be an advantage.
