**Job summary**:
The Campus and Curriculum team is part of the Government Skills and Curriculum Unit (GSCU) and sits within the Government People Group, which is part of the Cabinet Office.
The Government Skills and Curriculum Unit (GSCU) was created in 2020 to improve the coherence and quality of learning and development in government through better training, knowledge and networks. It is the backbone behind The Campus, a term used to unite all the locations, on and offline, where over 450,000 Civil Servants across Government develop the skills, knowledge and networks they need.
The aim is to accelerate the development of the skills, knowledge and networks of all civil servants, reaching across the wider public sector and delivering better public services for citizens across the country.
GSCU is responsible for creating a Campus for learning. This includes:
- The core skills any civil servant will need to do their job well;
- The knowledge unique to the civil service context;
- Consistent line management training for managers at every level and support for leaders of large teams and delivery programmes;
- Deep professional expertise with greater emphasis on demonstration of capability; and
- Understanding of the context in which we work.
The Learning Frameworks service is a central part of the GSCU offer for the Civil Service. This service provides much of the formal training across the Civil Service. The service is delivered through contracts with commercial suppliers. The Learning Frameworks’ contracts will deliver over £240m of services over their duration. The GSCU has a critical role to ensure that the service runs smoothly to meet the needs of the Civil Service.
**Job description**:
The job holder will report to the Learning Frameworks Communications and Engagement Lead and will work with a variety of stakeholders to deliver services. This involves working with team colleagues, partners across the Civil Service and commercial suppliers. The role includes: acting as the main point of contact for managing the central Learning Frameworks functional inbox; assisting with the designing and delivering processes to ensure that the Learning Frameworks run smoothly; supporting colleagues with core products and services to help our stakeholders and customers; and leading on delivering mini-projects that improve the service and support the wider team.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Working with colleagues to deliver the Learning Frameworks service to the Civil Service. This includes: delivering regular Learning Frameworks community events with Civil Service and supplier representatives; and acting as secretarial support to help deliver this work, including assisting with preparing papers.
- Working closely with stakeholders across the Civil Service to share insight and upskill them to interact more effectively with the Learning Frameworks system.
- Managing the central Government Campus functional mailbox and providing first line support. This will involve maintaining accurate logs for the inbox, as well as identifying and implementing improved ways of working.
- Assisting deliver the overall communication strategy for the Learning Frameworks and making sure that the Civil Service is able to use the Leaning Frameworks effectively.
- Delivering and supporting project work for the Frameworks and the wider team. This may include analysing trends and researching themes to help better the service/ products.
- Supporting GSCU colleagues on a variety of continuous improvement projects to drive up performance of the Learning Frameworks.
- Using digital skills to support the team’s work; this may include: creating presentations, analysing data, and using other tools.
