Matlock, United Kingdom Derbyshire County Council Full time

**Management Information Officer in the Development Section**

The Children's Services Development Section's key role is to ensure that there are sufficient school places, and that those places are of good quality. In recent years there has been an increase in the number of children entering school each year as a result of the housing growth in the County. This requires both extensions to schools and new schools to open.

The decisions on expanding or building new schools is based on the projection of pupil numbers for each school in the County and the analysis of pupils that will come from new housing. The numbers behind these decisions are prepared by the Management Information Officer following the receipt and analysis of data from the NHS, National Statistics as well as Borough and District Councils. The officer will also build up an understanding of patterns of parental preference to fine tune the annual review of projections.

The Management Information Officer will be fully embedded in the Development Team working alongside the officers who have responsibility for pupil places planning and will provide the information to answer queries from the schools, Head of Service, MPs, the Department for Education, District Councillors, developers and other Departments within the Council.

The Section operates an in-house database of information relating to pupil numbers and the Management Information Officer will be responsible for maintaining that resource. They will also be responsible for the submission of the annual return of pupil numbers to the Department for Education.

**Provisional Interview Date: 13 January 2023
