In this role, you’ll be part of a small team co-ordinating the delivery of high nature, low carbon, landscape scale grazing. Working to achieve ecosystem complexity, you will consider the role of a range of small native and large semi-domesticated or wild herbivores to replicate natural grazing systems. Working with our existing herd of Highland cattle you will also be responsible for sourcing and caring for other breeds including equines, pigs and potentially larger herbivores like water buffalo and bison. You will work closely with the Wilder Landscapes team to devise natural processes led herbivory regimes across DWTs estate and beyond.

To be successful you will be passionate about rewilding and bring a good level of livestock handling and management skills, ideally in a conservation setting with an emphasis on equines and pigs. You will be familiar with UK legislation around livestock care and movements and be able to share your knowledge with colleagues, industry professionals and other landowners.

**In this role, you will be responsible for**:

- Co-ordinating all DWT grazing activities required to deliver large herbivore actions on both DWT nature reserves and for other landowners under agreement.
- Delivering existing Wilder Grazing contracts and providing grazing plans and quotes for new landowners to generate income and grow the team.
- Responsibility of the well-being of livestock, planning the breeding, purchase and sale of livestock and livestock products, and expanding the range of livestock we own as required to meet grazing needs.
- Managing and developing the Wilder Grazing Staff Team
- Ensure legal requirements for livestock and agricultural activities are met, such as movement reporting, meeting Tb testing regimes and other obligations such as Cross Compliance, biosecurity measures and animal welfare.
- Ensuring yourself and your team adhere to relevant health and safety policies and procedures

**This role might be right for you if**:

- You have experience working with livestock and delivering conservation grazing plans across multiple sites
- Experience of working with equines, pigs and cattle, and other grazing species
- A comprehensive working knowledge of livestock legislation and good practice
- Qualifications or suitable experience operating and maintaining specialist farm machinery such as tractor driving, PTO attachments, towing trailers, front loader use
- You are passionate about nature conservation and are committed to delivering more space for nature
- You are a team player and enjoying working and communicating with others
- You are organised and can schedule a work programme for yourself and others
- You have good numeracy skills and commercial awareness
