Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary Special Needs Transport Officer (SEND) to work in **Matlock, Derbyshire**. This position is initially for a period of 4 months and is paying £18.51 per hour (paid to you via an umbrella company). This rate is negotiable. The working hours are Monday - Friday from 9am - 5pm.

**The role**:

- To identify, review, and procure the operation of safe transport services for children and young adults in accordance with the Council’s policies.
- To arrange the provision of transport in line with financial, procurement and legal regulations.
- To manage a team providing specialist passenger transport services on behalf of Children’s Services.
- To oversee contract compliance and monitoring and resolve day to day operational issues.
- To review ways of working to streamline systems and identify efficiencies.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Manage and review the operation of specialist transport services, procured from external transport providers, for vulnerable children and young adults within Derbyshire in line with Council policies.
- Liaise and consult with internal and external colleagues to contribute to effective service delivery; in particular senior officers in Local Bus and School Bus
- Develop and maintain effective working relations with external contractors and liaise as necessary about service delivery, contract performance and safeguarding matters.
- Respond to correspondence from MP’s, elected members and members of the public and deal with enquiries from the public and the school community to ensure all queries and issues are resolved.
- Provide expert technical assistance and advice to deliver and maintain an efficient service to internal and external colleagues.
- Manage and support a defined staff team and provide clear organisation, direction and development.
- Lead within the department as the representative for Children’s Services on specialised transport issues - providing technical expertise and specifically assisting with reviews of transport policies.
- Review current IT systems with a view to streamlining and developing new IT processes for greater efficiency, carrying out technical checks and balances to ensure proposed works comply with all organisational and statutory requirements

- **Qualifications**: N/A.
- **Experience**: 2 years experience within a similar role.
- **Compliance**: Proof of ability to work and live in the UK. Current DBS check.
- **Travel**: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
- **Hours**: 37 hours p/w.
