**Job summary**:
The COVID-19 Inquiry Unit is a welcoming and high profile team, responsible for leading the Department’s response in support of the independent public inquiry.

The Department played a vital role in supporting communities through the COVID-19 pandemic, with over 20 separate response workstreams that are likely to be of interest to the Inquiry, touching on most areas of Departmental activity and the Department will play a significant role in supporting the Inquiry.

The Unit leads on preparations and engagement, provides support to the Inquiry in delivering against its terms of reference through the provision of evidence and the production of statements, represents the Department’s interests both in the initial phase and in preparing for hearings and will provide support to witnesses.

We are looking for colleagues want to be part a of dynamic, close knit and supportive team delivering on a high profile and exciting area of work with significant public interest. The remit of the Unit brings with it a challenging and exceptionally varied workload in a fast-paced, high intensity and a highly political work environment. It is a rewarding role which will entail close working with our senior officials and Ministers, as well as other government departments, legal and the Inquiry.

We are a flexible team of moving parts, with roles overlapping and shifting as the work demands. Consequently, it is vital that we act as one team, working collaboratively. We are looking for organised people who are good communicators, who are enthused about detail and analysis, and who understand the sensitivities of our work.

**Job description**:
**Key responsibilities**:
Project Administration: Inputting data on stakeholder actions from across the department. Maintaining the programme documentation e.g., assisting with RAID log and keeping contact lists updated.

Governance support: Providing secretariat support e.g., tracking action items and production of agenda and minutes.

Diary Management: Organising of Unit meetings and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, Private Offices and Policy teams.

Enquiry handling: Communicating with internal stakeholders and managing the shared mailbox to ensure evidence is logged and stored correctly.

Information management: Contributing to the team knowledge hub, gathering evidence and summarising information to support the team’s understanding of key issues.

Team Support: Providing ad-hoc support with administrative and project management tasks across the Unit where required.

**Essential Criteria**
- Great communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail
- Confident use of basic Microsoft packages including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Good time management and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Experience in a Programme environment and an understanding of how a Programme Management Office works (desirable)
