St. Mary’s Catholic Voluntary Academy are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Emotional Literacy Support Assistant to support children in improving their emotional literacy, resilience and coping strategies, to build their self-esteem to allow them to be happy and successful and to go into secondary school with every chance of succeeding in life.

You will complement the work of our teachers by providing in-class and small group support to our children.

This is a permanent, part-time, role working 6 hours per week over 3 afternoons, on a term time only basis.

**About the role**

As St. Mary’s you will:

- Have experience, or a willingness to train in, emotional literacy programmes such as Thrive or ELSA
- Be committed to inclusion and have a good understanding of reasonable adjustments to enable pupils to succeed
- Have excellent interpersonal communications skills to enable strong relationships with, and support, children, staff, parents/carers and other agencies
- Have good knowledge of child development and support for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
- Be able to work flexibly and positively within a busy team, responding to the changing needs of children and the school
