The contact service provides a range of support in contact to children in need of protection or support and their carers, ensuring a provision of services that protects, supports, and enables children to maximise their potential and to enhance their identity.

About the role

The contact service robustly plans, prepares and reviews contact in accordance with the long term care plan and best interests of the child, ensuring it is appropriate to the identified need and that goals, outcomes and timescales are identified.

The service provides high quality child focused and safe contact service for children and their families/ carers, and maintains contact notes including any child protection concerns and health and safety issues.

We also promote, encourage and enable parents in practising safe and effective parenting skills and to support families to maintain or develop the quality of their contact.

The service provides reports that include good quality observations, assessment and risk analyses within timescales, and contributes to court ordered assessments and the contact workers speak to their reports if needed in court proceedings in liaison with social workers.

About you
- As a Supervised Contact Worker you will support to provide a high quality focused and safe contact service for children and their families/carers to pursue the best possible outcomes for children and young people in relation to contact arrangements and life story work.
- Set up and provide supervised contact between children and families/carers maintaining records of interactions (contact notes), child protection concerns and health and safety issues.
- Ensure firm and consistent boundaries are set, maintained and risk assess potentially challenging contact as necessary; intervene and suspend contact if the terms and conditions of the contact agreement are breached.
- Participate in the provision of contact to a range of children/young people and their families/carers, ensuring that the intervention is appropriate to the identified need, the goals are clear, outcomes identified, and that the service is provided within the time frames agreed.
- Maintain a high level of communication with children/young people and carers and to consult in planning, delivery, and review of contact.
- Prepare and present reports and records as required, and represent the Contact Service view in relating to your work and observations of the child and family.
