The Bureau of Investigative Journalism is looking for a talented journalist to join a new project aiming to expose online attempts to manipulate the UK public ahead of the next general election.

We want an enthusiastic journalist with at least two years’ experience to spearhead this project. The role is for three days a week, based in our London office, for an initial 12-month fixed term contract.

The Bureau is the UK's largest independent investigative journalism organisation. It exists to inform the public about the realities of power in today’s world. We seek to expose systemic wrongs, challenge misinformation, and spark change. With no corporate or political agenda, we bring to light serious issues affecting individuals and communities in the UK and around the world. We work strategically and collaboratively to maximise the impact of our reporting and share our findings openly with local, national and international media outlets to reach as many people as possible.

At the heart of the Bureau is its people - its creative, energised and talented team of reporters, data specialists, editors, community organisers, impact producers and organisational support.

It is an exciting time to join our innovative, mission-driven newsroom and be part of an ambitious project that will be looking into influence operations and misinformation in the UK ahead of an election scheduled to take place before February 2025.

What are influence ops and why are we investigating them?

**Experience and skills**
- At least two years of journalism, or related, experience
- An understanding of social media and other online spaces
- Some understanding of media law and journalism ethics
- Diligence and attention to detail
- You will be a collaborative team player
- A passion for accountability journalism

**Desirable experience and skills**
- Investigative reporting
- Experience in digital investigations
- Experience in OSINT
- Data journalism skills
