**Job Description**:
We’re looking for an Employee Relations Adviser to provide an excellent colleague experience by providing People support to both Leaders and colleagues within the Society & Skipton Business Finance. The Employee Relations Adviser will provide expert guidance, advice and support on a range of HR employment related policies and procedures to ensure that a fair and consistent approach is applied to promote a positive employee relations culture within the Society whilst minimising risks.

Main Responsibilities

This is a wide-ranging role with lots of variety that should keep you interested. On a day-to-day basis, you’ll coach and advise leaders on People policies and procedures and support them with employee relations cases that will sometimes include sensitive and complex matters like grievance and disciplinary procedures.

Key responsibilities
- Providing first line expert guidance, advice and support on a range of employment-related matters including conduct, performance and contractual issues, sickness absence management and Occupational Health referrals.
- Pro-actively manage the Employee Relations Mailbox as the single point of contact and escalate complex casework to the Employee Relations Specialist
- Effective case management of people welfare and Occupational Health referrals
- Developing effective relationships with the business to promote good employee relations across the organisation
- Monitoring trends in employment practices and advising on appropriate proactive action
- Coaching leaders to build their confidence and capability on policies and procedures self service
- Maintain all required confidential colleague personnel & employment information on the HR system and sufficiently document all changes to satisfy Data Protection legislation and audit requirements using the relevant confidential electronic filing systems.
- Focus is on dispute resolution; therefore you will be expected to utilise conflict management knowledge to resolve issues informally through facilitated conversations.
- Provide and MI Data relating to Employee Relations cases
- Support the Employee Relations Specialist on case management as required

We’re looking for someone with really good communications skills, who will be able to navigate their way around potentially sensitive conversations in the right kind of way. You’ll need a compassionate nature that’s also decisive, with the ability to challenge when necessary too.

An understanding of current employment legislation and experience in coaching line managers is a must and, if you can boast being highly organised and have an excellent technical understanding of employee relations, we’d love to have you on board.
