**Job title**: Coffee Shop & Pottery Studio Supervisor

We have an exciting opportunity for a Café Supervisor to join our friendly team here at my independently owned cafe in Skipton, North Yorkshire. Well known and established cafe with its own pottery studio and party venue alongside on its upstairs floor.

(9-12 Months Maternity Cover - 14 Hours per week).

Includes one Weekend Day & an Extra Weekday/s. Opportunity that the position could lead to a permanent position. Also, for extra hours covering busy periods.

**Location**: 14 High Street, Skipton, BD23 1JZ

**Salary**: £9.50 - 11 per hour (depending on experience and qualification)

**Hours**:Ideally able to work Sunday day-time shift plus another day in the week. You'll also have the opportunity of extra hours during the week if required.

Working as part of our customer-facing team you will ensure that high quality and great value food and drink are prepared and served to café and catering customers from a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Be a positive role model and engage with young and old people throughout. Ultimately, help increase profitability, boost customer engagement and loyalty and in turn, make our cafes into a favourite local spot.

**We are looking for someone with the below characteristics**:

- Work experience as a Barista / Café Supervisor.
- Hands-on experience with professional coffee machines preferred.
- Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate preferred.
- Additional certification (e.g. in Business Administration or Hospitality) is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with a bubbly personality & a hunger for excellent customer service.
- Organised, enthusiastic & positive person who enjoys working as part of a team.
- Be calm, patient, and polite whilst always going out of your way to help our customers.
- It is essential you are reliable with excellent attendance.
- Be a team player, working and building relationships with team members and willing to take on jobs to balance the team workload.
- Be professional at all times with an ability to work under own initiative and work effectively without direct supervision.
- A love for Coffee and Clay.

**Responsibilities will include**:
Preparing and making coffee to trained standards and serving food, tea and drinks plus collecting money / till operation.
- Helping with the smooth running of the pottery painting studio including operation of the kiln once training provided.
- Supervising the smooth running of the pottery painting parties.
- Ensuring the cafés are fully stocked and can meet the menu at all times, notifying the owner or kitchen staff of any shortage.
- Deliver excellent customer service at all times, both in the café & the pottery studio.
- Assist customers with the selection and purchase of cafe or pottery studio items, always providing an exceptional and friendly service to customers.
- This is a busy hands-on role within our small team, you’ll need to be reliable & committed.
- You’ll need to be an excellent communicator, especially whilst taking accurate orders using our till system. Or perhaps whilst helping with pottery parties.
- You will make sure you work neatly, with all counter tops always being hygienically clean & tidy.
- Correctly marking items with date life and allergen information.
- Ensure customer tables are promptly cleaned and tidy at all times.
- Ensuring food orders are delivered promptly, correctly and with a smile.
- Mucking in to wash, and dry dishes and also loading dishes into the dishwasher.
- Closing responsibilities include cleaning down at the end of busy days.
- Always following basic health & safety policies and food safety management policies.
- Performing additional duties to the above as and when required by the business.

**Any other duties as would be expected of a Barista / Café Supervisor**:

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team
- Training staff and baristas where appropriate
- Help train employees on drinks preparation and proper use of coffee equipment and food prep if necessary
- Maintain and update records of daily
- Advise staff on the best ways to resolve issues with clients and the team and always deliver excellent customer service
- Ensure all cafe areas are clean and tidy and all daily tasks and routines are met and approved
- Dress and Uniform to be clean, tidy and appropriate at all times - an apron must be worn with our logo on it if possible. Personal hygiene to be exemplary and hair, makeup, clothing to be appropriate.
- Nurture friendly relationships with customers to increase loyalty and boost reputation.
