Advanced Support Time Recovery Worker

We’re looking for a Thames Valley Advanced Support Time & Recovery (STR) Worker to join our Thames Valley Liaison & Diversion Service.
You’re enthusiastic, dynamic, and passionate about making a difference to the lives and life chances of people who have contact with the criminal justice system. You’ll develop and strengthen links with other stakeholders, such as Thames Valley Police, probation, drug and alcohol services, homeless outreach workers.
You will work in police custody or court providing triage, screening, and signposting to individuals who may present with a range of vulnerabilities that may be linked to their offending behaviours.
We work across sites in Thames Valley. Your base can be agreed within interview, but you will be expected to travel around Thames Valley to meet the need of the service.
This role operates across 09:00 - 17:00 seven days a week. In addition to DBS, there is requirement to secure police vetting for this role.
We are looking for a passionate and determined person to support vulnerable people.
Overseas sponsorship is not available for this role, and you must have the right to work in the UK.
Work alongside Liaison and Diversion practitioners as part of the Liaison and Diversion Team, under the direction of the Thames Valley Clinical Lead and Team Managers.
Triage and screen level of need, using screening tools/rating scales to gain an understanding of an individual’s difficulties.
To facilitate engagement with appropriate services, by identifying unmet needs including, but not limited to, mental health, learning disability, ASD, ADHD, housing, social isolation and exclusion, education, debt management, drug and alcohol, and employment problems.
To undertake needs led screening and reviews of people with substance misuse problems in police custody or magistrate court, keeping them fully informed of the range of services and support available to them and the choices they have.
To provide effective evidence-based screening of complex service users with substance misuse needs, building a therapeutic trusting relationship, signposting, and referring to appropriate services, liaising with families, carers, and other professionals where appropriate to ensure that service user’s needs are met.
Flexibly work across the Thames Valley custodies and magistrate court as per roster or according to locality need (excluding Milton Keynes) across 7 days a week across Monday - Sunday.

Experience of working in a health and social care setting. Experience of supporting people with identified vulnerabilities.
