Bristol, United Kingdom LUC Full time

**HR Assistant, Bristol**

**About the role**:
LUC‘s People & Culture Team are constantly evolving to meet the needs of a thriving organisation and we have a new role for a People & Culture Assistant within our HR team.

This is a great opportunity for someone searching for a first step into a Human Resources (HR) role. It will build up from administrative tasks to learning about different aspects of the HR function and gaining experience in areas including recruitment, absence management, HR technology and more.

In this role you will have a wide range of responsibilities and for each area you will receive training and support until you build your confidence and expertise. We will make sure you have a blend of routine tasks and challenges that ensure you are continuously learning and consolidating your experience.

Your tasks could include:

- Ensuring employee data in the HR Information System is well set up and maintained, learning how to use this data to support good people management practices
- Producing correspondence and documentation
- Supporting employees with queries on their leave
- Liaising with the payroll team to ensure employee changes are actioned
- Arranging in house training courses, booking external training and maintaining records.
- Assisting with the annual appraisal process, maintaining records and collating information.
- Carrying out administration for leavers.
- Liaising with colleagues on maternity and paternity leave arrangements, maintaining contact with staff while they are on leave.
- Assisting with the administration of employee benefits including holidays, pensions, childcare vouchers, cycle scheme and group life scheme.
- Monitoring sickness absence, maintaining records and advising line managers.

This is also an opportunity to work for a sincere, employee-owned and people-centred company with strong values and a particular focus on addressing the climate emergency.

This role will be based in our Bristol office. We operate a hybrid working set up with an expectation of 2-3 days per week in the office. If you are keen to be full time office-based we can discuss this option with you during the recruitment process. There will be occasional travel required to our other office locations, particularly our London office where some of the People & Culture team are based.

A full-time role would be based on 37.5 hours Monday to Friday. However, LUC has a strong track record in flexible working and we have been recognised for our flexible working culture, so we are happy to discuss a range of flexible working options for this role including part time hours (minimum 30 hours per week) if desired.

Salary £22,000 FTE

**About you**:
We are looking for a colleague who will share our commitment to developing LUC as an excellent place to work and grow, with particular focus on advancing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. You do not need previous experience in a HR role, but we expect you to have an understanding of the role of HR within the organisation and a demonstrable interest in developing a career in this field.

Experience in an administrative role, HR, training or recruitment would be advantageous because you will need strong administrative and IT skills, with competent use of MS Office packages. Prior use of databases or in-house systems (particularly Natural HR) would be useful, but training will be provided.

To thrive in this role at LUC you will need to have an appreciation of the importance of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, as well as an interest in matters relating to the environment. You will respect the confidential and sensitive nature of many aspects of HR, whilst having excellent communication skills and an ability to develop relationships at all levels.

Numeracy, accuracy and a highly organised approach are necessary to carrying out this role effectively. We will need you to work proactively, taking ownership of your tasks and being accountable for outcomes.

We are looking for someone who can pick up tasks and learn our systems quickly, but also have the curiosity to question and courage to challenge.
