The Paediatric Limb Reconstruction Service (PLRS) is a specialist service that offers a comprehensive service to children from Sheffield and the surrounding areas, as well as national and international patients.

A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Paediatric RN to join our well-established nursing team who care for patients both pre and post operatively. The post is for 15 hours per week, temporary with a view to being permanent and with the expectation of it increasing to 22.5 hours per week in the future

You must be motivated, organised, have excellent communications skills, as well as being a team player. Flexibility is required to meet the service requirements.

The role will include specialist education to patients and families, other Health Care Professionals, liaising with Schools, GP’s and Community Nursing Teams as needed.

As part of a senior nursing team, help co-ordinate the specialist service in a variety of settings, ensuring the quality-of-care provision to children.

To assist in providing specialist education, training and information to children, families, and members of multidisciplinary team.

To be responsible for monitoring patient condition, administering treatment and communicating change to senior specialist nurse or multidisciplinary team.

To be responsible for nursing practice development.

As part of a senior nursing team, help co-ordinate the specialist service in a variety of settings, ensuring the quality-of-care provision to children.

To liaise with the Primary Health Care team and where relevant, the referring District Hospital team to ensure a seamless package of care.

To produce care plans for each patient and communicate these to the child, family, and colleagues.

To provide a telephone advice service to patients and serve as a point of contact for other health professionals.

To visit the wards on a regular basis, to communicate with ward staff over care planning and discharge plans for specialist inpatients and to contact new referrals.

To develop protocol-based treatments in association with the multidisciplinary team

To assist in providing specialist education, training and information to children, families, and members of multidisciplinary team.
